Matryoshka, a traditional Russian folk art, also known as Russian nesting dolls, consists of a set of painted wooden dolls that are nested inside one another. Typically, a Matryoshka set includes a series of dolls of decreasing sizes that fit into each other, starting from a larger doll and going down to smaller ones. Each doll can be separated into multiple parts to reveal a smaller doll inside. Matryoshka dolls are often painted with intricate designs, and they hold cultural significance in Russia as symbols of motherhood, fertility, and family.
