Linocut
Linocut - Linocut print - Lino print - Linoleum art |
Linocut is a relief printmaking technique in which a design is carved into a piece of linoleum using various cutting tools. The areas that are not carved away remain raised, and those that are carved create recessed areas that hold ink. The linoleum block is inked with a roller (brayer), and then paper is pressed onto the inked block, transferring the ink and creating the print. Linocuts are known for their bold and graphic appearance, characterized by sharp lines and simplified forms. Artists often use linocuts to create illustrations, posters, and artistic prints due to their expressive possibilities and the ability to produce striking visual effects.
