Aquatint

Aquatint - Aquatint print

Aquatint is an intaglio printmaking technique used in art. It involves creating tonal values and textures on a metal plate, often copper or zinc, by using a powdered resin. The plate is coated with resin, heated to adhere the resin particles, and then immersed in an acid bath. The acid bites into the exposed areas between the resin particles, creating a pattern of tiny dots that hold ink. When inked and pressed onto paper, the plate produces a print with a range of tones, resembling the effect of a wash drawing or a watercolor painting.
